Here for the past few months the local community has been in a state of high activity: with little money but lots of good will. <strong>A decision was taken: capitalize on the local traditional heritage in order to give new possibilities to the youth of the village<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As shown in the pictures, <strong>an old house built in conformity with ancient Palestinian techniques<\/strong> is now being restored and will soon <strong>become a guesthouse<\/strong>. Here visitors will be able to enjoy a simple and welcoming style that fully respects Palestinian traditions.<\/p>\n<p>Osama Hamdan, director of the Mosaic Centre, the Palestinian NGO partner of the project, explains that \u201cThe idea is to create an <strong>exchange and mutual benefit between the village of Sabastiya<\/strong>, which is blessed with a splendid archaeological site and other historical and artistic treasures, and the nearby <strong>smaller villages where the rich heritage is perhaps more hidden<\/strong>, but is there nonetheless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the future guesthouse a center for producing ceramics has been created. \u201cAt the moment we have three girls working full-time&#8221;, continues Osama, \u201cwho in just a few months have managed <strong>to reach a surprising level of artistic production<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0 It is interesting to observe that, in their creation of numerous plates and other <strong>ceramic objects, they are making use of designs employed in olden times by Palestinian craftsmen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Association pro Terra Sancta and the Mosaic Center have been working together for a number of years with excellent results, including in nearby<a href=\"https:\/\/www.proterrasancta.org\/project\/en\/palestine-sabastiya-and-nusf-jibeil-the-memory-of-the-baptist-enhancement-of-cultural-heritage-and-the-promotion-of-experiential-tourism\/\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Sabastiya<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nisf Jbeil is a small village, 300 souls and a few donkeys, located in the hills of Samaria a few kilometers from Sabastiya.
