Pro Terra Sancta’s 2024 Social Report: endless acts of care
“Every number speaks of an act of care”
Looking back, 2024 appears as a set of numbers that tell dozens of stories: the number of beneficiaries we helped during the past year, how many projects we carried out and how many we started new ones, how many people work with us and help us build hope in all the countries of the Holy Land.
Each issue speaks of an act of care: the release of our 2024 Social Report is an opportunity, for us and for all our donors, to retrace the results of the year together, looking through, in filigree, the faces of all the people who make them possible.
The words with which Tommaso Saltini, Director General of Pro Terra Sancta, presents the report of our activities:
“Dear friends and supporters of Pro Terra Sancta,
I would like to thank all of you who have followed and supported our activities during 2024 and who, by leafing through this report, continue to demonstrate your interest and closeness. I express deep gratitude on behalf of all the communities that benefit from your support, especially in a context marked by persistent conflicts and difficulties.
With our thoughts turned to all the people who have lost their lives in Palestine – especially in Gaza and the West Bank – in Israel, Lebanon and Syria, we want to continue to be a sign of joy and hope, so that pain and suffering are not the last word on what is happening.
“‘God asked Abraham to look up to heaven and count the stars’ (cf. Gen 15:5). In those stars he saw the promise of his descendants, he saw us. And today we, Jews, Christians and Muslims, together with our brothers and sisters of other religions, honour Father Abraham by doing as he did: let us look to heaven and walk on earth”.
These words spoken by Pope Francis in Iraq in March 2021 help us on this path of humanity and collaboration. Just like the stars in the sky, which shine together illuminating even the darkest nights, we believe in the importance of building bridges and promoting unity among people. Our commitment is aimed at encouraging mutual encounter and support, recognizing the unique value of each individual.
In this report, and through our communication channels, we continue to share stories, testimonies and information on the projects carried out in the different countries of the Middle East. We want to make transparent the impact of your contribution and how it translates into concrete actions of support and hope. The need we see close to us always remains enormous, but we are increasingly aware that what matters is to be presence, encounter, bond.
The Pro Terra Sancta initiatives aim to foster bonds and encounters between those who can give and those in need; and he who in need bears witness to joy is a hope apparently impossible for man.”
